Benchmarks for Public Radio Fundraising

Evaluate Your Station's Fundraising Performance and Potential

FY 2011 was a good year for fund raising.  Membership, major giving and underwriting revenue increased compared to FY 10 based on an analysis of more than 100 DEI members participating in Benchmarks for Public Radio Fundraising.  Stations increased their fundraising efficiency when revenue is compared with audience, an exclusive analysis provided by Benchmarks.

Benchmarks represent a cross section of market and station sizes and accounts for nearly 40 percent of the national annual Listener Hours.  See the results in this slide show and learn how you can apply Benchmarks and participate if you are not already doing so.  Contact Craig Oliver or Jay Clayton for more information about Benchmarks.

Available only to DEI member stations, this powerful management tool helps stations evaluate their fundraising performance and potential, expressed in terms of net revenue relative to audience. In addition, stations have access to Peer Reports based on licensee type, format, and other criteria.  DEI's Benchmarks for Public Radio Fundraising is the only service that collects and analyzes Membership, Major Giving, Underwriting, Other Fundraising and Total Fundraising data. RRC/Radio Research Consortium generously supports DEI's  Benchmarks Project with annual Listener Hours data.

Stations submit a limited set of financial data which DEI combines with audience and other data to generate Station Trend Reports for Membership/Mid-Level Giving, Major Giving, Underwriting, Other Fundraising, and Total Fundraising.
